Watching the Land of Ruin from the Free Sky
You should not work positively,
when the reward remains the same.
Even if I work passively,
nothing changes.
Work slowly, slowly—
for earnest labor does not alter the wage.
If a colleague suffers,
pretend not to notice.
They will only load more work upon you.
Think only of yourself;
erase the affairs of others.
There is nothing to gain.
Do not engage deeply
with friends who lack deep resonance.
To be involved is to be sacrificed.
Avoid profound bonds—
they bring needless burdens.
Do not be entangled deeply with family.
They may scatter at any moment.
Spend as little as possible
on wife, husband, or children.
Securing your own survival comes first.
Do not involve yourself
with in-laws.
They may force caregiving upon you.
Do not involve yourself
with your siblings.
Someday they will rely on you—
and repayment will never come.
In this sinking mud-boat world,
thinking only of oneself
is best.
Such is this age,
even if the heart remains unfulfilled.
I walk my own path;
the collapsing ties of others
mean nothing to me.
Broad compassion is a waste of energy.
If only a few hearts resonate,
that is enough.
Most acts of mercy end in futility—
for people cannot change,
do not change,
and have no wish to change.
Only the people inside books
are capable of transformation.
History repeats in circles;
it never rises into spirals.
Zarathustra will not appear—
for human nature detests change.
This is my way of living in Japan:
the path of realism,
the path of truth,
the path of awakening.
I walk the Z-axis alone,
the price I pay for solitude.
Remember this—
those who hate change
cannot enter the Z-axis.
Through the desert of the city
I pass with closed eyes,
searching someday
for an oasis.
Whether it exists or not—
only one star remains
as my solitary hope.
I am fine as a solitary warrior,
fine as a hawk
that flies alone.
Losing conformity,
I gain the freedom of mind
and the depth of true connection.
I do not enter the world
of invisible chains.
I remain in the realm of freedom,
watching quietly
the fate of the sinking planar world.
I will not repeat the futile struggles
of past great men—
I walk only with a few kindred spirits.
Conformity and freedom
cannot be possessed together.
So I choose freedom.
With freedom, creation, awakening, and flight,
I break through the clouds of the vast sky
and ascend,
higher and higher.
For no reason—
only because
this is what my soul seeks.
Nothing more.
